Total Jerk Kid. I hated that kid as soon as I became a teenager and realized how awful he was. And thank you JRose for sassy gay friend. I forgot all about him and it always makes me laugh.
Ha, an American reference that I understand. Reminds me of my friend in Wisconsin ....... sweet memories. But you're right, about the story, and what does the tree get out of the relationship?
A lot of popular children's books seem this way! That's why my favorite is The Stinky Cheese Man! Anybody else remember these hilarious inverted fairy-tales?
And, you know, when you think about the fact that the book is printed on paper, which comes from trees... and how many millions of books were printed and how many trees were killed to make them... and how many spoiled brat children were read this story...
That was depressing. :(
ReplyDeleteIt's not just you. I always hated that kid, but felt bad, because it was supposed to be such a tender story of sharing and friendship...
ReplyDeleteThis is inappropriate but hilarious, on the subject.
