Arizona HB2625, amirite!?

I really ought to get to the Grand Canyon before I am too disgusted to ever step foot in Arizona again.

You know, this is really not a political blarg, and I am really not a political person, until it comes to my lady bits... so again... if you hate politics, feel free to skip to the second picture.

But after reading about the latest bill coming out of Arizona, I felt the need to share one of my medically necessary reasons for birth control.

Think it would pass legislative muster?

AND, because I am a nerd and cannot ignore it.

  2. happy pi day!! and really, people should think about things before passing asinine legislations. just as planned parenthood's only purpose is not abortion, birth control's purpose is not only... well, birth control. yeesh!

    1. The bill says that the female would have to submit her medical records to the business who objected to her being on the pill to prove she was not taking them to keep from getting pregnant.

    2. *eyeroll* agh, the whole thing gives me a headache. there has to be a better solution to the whole bc insurance debate than what is currently going on. there's no reason why any employer should be involved in ANY medical decision of their employees. what about HIPPA
      ? meh.

    3. Makes me glad to live in Australia where an employee is not allowed to know this personal information about you.

    1. All you need is some upbeat music and some animation. I'm thinking the Carmel Dansen...

  5. my boyfriend's birthday is pi day. So I love this. I also consider not having to deal with internal parasites of any species of the utmost importance to my happiness. Although I understand this bill has to with insurance coverage, and if women want birth control covered then employers have the right to decide under which circumstances they'll cover it (acne reasons vs. parasitic infestations)which mostly would effect religious employers. Either way, mixing your medical information and your place of employment is going to rub everyone the wrong way so I doubt this is going to go anywhere. Hooray for pie! And boyfriends! And buying birth control to have birthday sex with boyfriends! Well done.

  6. I'm amazed. You moan and complain about the legislators you have, but you don't have the energy to get out and vote against arseholes. You have the governement you deserve if you are just going to sit around and complain. Get out there and change things. Your vote counts! Even if it's in another state, public opinion counts!

    1. It seems strange to me that you would assume that I don't vote. I do. Just because I claim not to be political in my humor stylings does not mean that I don't affect the public opinion.

  7. I don't understand. Why would it matter to a potential employer if you were on birth control or not? Unless you were becoming a Catholic priest, I don't see the problem.

Also, I love the labels on your post. I never thought I'd see the words "grand canyon" and "vaginas" sit side by side.

  8. Well, I am officially stupid. I had to reread your first picture like three times to understand you meant babies.
Because of your chronic health problems, I was totally thinking of like real parasites or something.....
    Is Arizona legislating tapeworms???
    Those tyrannical bastards.

  9. I gave birth to my second born on Pi day, but as of yet no one has baked me a pie. :-(

The government needs to keep itself out of what we do with our bodies....and I wouldn't stay at a place that required my medical information, except maybe a doctors note to approve my ability of performing the work. This is no ones business unless I want to tell them or I have a communicable disease and are therefore under a social obligation to let others be aware but last time I check you can't catch pregnancy, especially if you are taking something to prevent it. =-O

  10. I am an Arizonan and I am incredibly embarrassed by this stupid piece of legislation. Our politicians are incredibly dense if they don't realize moronic this makes our state look.

Just because you don't live in Arizona doesn't mean your voice doesn't count. Please let them know how you feel! All the uteruses (uteri?) here in Arizona will appreciate it!

  11. I definetely think that legislators should keep out of peoples private parts, thats why they are calles private after all. BUUUUT here in Germany only girls under the age of 18 have birth control covered by insurance...
If you want it covered when you are older you have to have a very good reason ( and no acne does not count as a reason, or excruciating pain that keeps you from going to school/work for at least 4 days a month) and still it somehow works. We don't have anymore unwanted children than any other country...
