Spring is for the birds!

This morning it was bright and warm outside when I woke up, around 50 degrees F, which is pretty spring-like. As a result, I'm fairly certain every single bird in Montana was perched outside of my open window tweeting their effing heads off.
I don't like tweety, squawky birds. Totally fine with hooters (heh, heh), and screechers, and cooers, and I can deal with some clucking, and quacking, and warbling, but dear lord, I can't take the chirpy, chittering, ear-bleeding din of happy little birds. I have no problem with them being happy; I'm happy that I shall no longer have to consider self-immolation thanks to warming temperatures, but I'm not outside with my friends yelling about it.

And stay tuned.  I shall have a special post for when I reach 700 followers which I hope shall be tomorrow. Feel free to peer pressure your friends  into following on my behalf. All the cool kids are doing it!

  1. the birds of early spring are soooo obnoxious. when i lived in the country, the nearest tree was about a football field length from my window, so it wasn't bad, but now that I am back in town, all I have are yappy squeaky squawky birdyss. uggs.

  3. When we lived out in the wild yonder, I never really minded the birds. It was the damn elk bugling in the middle of the night that got me. I know it's for elk procreation and all but seriously--all night? Oh, and geese. Geese pretty much work my last nerve too.

  4. I totally can relate! They made my nap today super difficult with the windows open. That, and my cat becomes neurotic thinking I don't know they are out there, and meows and meows and meows until he thinks I understand that he has located some feathery snack he'd like me to allow him outside to catch (which would be laughable, as his tubby butt wouldn't know the first thing about catching birds). Also, down on my family's farm, they have guinea hens. The first morning I was there, I woke up thinking "What fresh HELL is this, and what IS that horrendous noise?!?!" They are insane sounding AND early risers.

  5. Happiness sometimes abounds
    just beyond our boundaries,
but its sound is found to be sneaky
and leaks back around with ease.

  6. Spring? I'm down near the South Pole waiting to be frozen. Well, not quite. I am prone to exagerating (and misspelling) from time to time.

Birds are nice, birds are wonderful, birds are... tasty.

So a remedy for you, double barrelled shotgun, birdshot, dinner.

    Cheers

  7. Oddly enough, I live in Idaho and I'm more bothered by the firetruckin' speedway half a mile away from my hosue. Seriously rednecks? D'you really have to watch car races and scream drunkenly while normal people are trying to sleep and get a stupid music video that their so-called friend showed them online out of their head?

    I DO NOT HAVE ISSUES.

  10. I'll send you some bird spray. We need it year round in Florida. Don't worry, it's the "Earth Options" line. Very eco-friendly... except to the birds. I'm sitting here writing this over a cacophonous symphony right now. Good ole bird spray.

  11. My grandma always says "____________ is for the birds." I never understood what that meant. Until now.

  13. I completely agree! I used to have an apartment with a nice big tree right outside my window that attracted all the local chirpers at 6am. Quite annoying!

  15. I remember something Terry Pratchett wrote about birds going "tweet!". It was something like "For us, it's quite cheerful to hear them sing and chat away, but if we could ctually understand what they say it would probably be "Hey, get your feathery arse out of my nest, you tw@t"! " This is not a proper quote, but you get the vibe. I still love it, though.
If I had the wings of an eagle and the @rse of a crow, I'd fly over (insert stadium of rival club here) and poop on the bstrds below! Gotta love birds.
700, eh? Way to go, I am in good company.
