By Tuesday, I will no longer be a liar.

I've been lying to you all.  I've shamelessly misrepresented myself.
Last week, there was a mix-up and I missed an appointment to get my bangs trimmed (that is my fringe for OG English speakers).  I've needed a bang trim since before I went to NYC in fact, and instead of drawing myself as I actually look, I have continued to draw myself with cute short bangs. I'm sorry.  But there is a reason.

Now, I am cute.  I have no doubt about it, but when my  bangs get to a certain length, it causes some sort of illusion wherein I look like a frumpy cross dressing cave man.

Perhaps it is the hair in my eyes that causes this visual disturbance, but it can only be combated by wearing more makeup than I usually have the patience to wear, and since I don't draw any realistic features on my cartoon representation, it is easier to just create the same effect by making my bangs the right length.

Believe me, I did it for you... and also for me... because I'm vain and don't want to be hassled by scientists thinking they've found a missing link.

OH, and my Coco Llama,  the actual piece that was in the museum in NYC is now for sale on eBay.  Share it with everyone you know. I still need to pay for that trip!

Cheeseblarg's First Official Scavenger Hunt

I was talking to my friend, Kim, because she's awesome, but also because she has been having a crap-filled couple of days, not literally, at least I don't think so, but stressful as all get out, and she suggested that she needed to get out of the house to clear her mind.  Being the awesome and creative friend I am, I offered to create a scavenger hunt for her, because adventures are more exciting than moping in public. But then, the point of scavenger hunts, as I understand them, is to have competition, so that is where you guys come in.

While you could go the cheaty route and just google crap (especially if you are stuck in an office building and aren't allowed to leave your cubicle because you are chained to it until the whistle blows-- yeah, I have never actually worked in an office setting so I imagine that is how it works, right?) there are some items that will require actual photos, and really, actually taking the pictures yourself is more fun... but if you do google, against my will, it better be super creative.

Photo sets can be uploaded to http://www.flickr.com/groups/cheeseblarghunt with a link to your images in a comment here.  You can also, alternatively, upload your images to a post on your own blog and paste a link in the comment section.

Prizes
First 3 people to post completed hunts (that are not googled/binged/searched for on the internet and show that you actually left the house to do it), win an envelope of happiness from me in the mail.

Next 3 people to post completed hunts win a special personalized scavenger hunt winner badge.
And since only six people actually read this regularly, that should cover it.

No, no, all others will receive a scavenger hunt badge for their blog, or wall, or refrigerator.

Winners will be announced in a separate post and I will request addresses at that time to send out prizes.

Now, on to the hunt!

Remember, you can be as creative as you like, as long as one could reasonable associate your photo with the item on the list.

1. A cat in a window
2. Bare feet in grass
3. Bacon
4. A squeaker
5. 3 people holding cards
6. Cheese on an entire family

9. The color red, only the color red
10. You holding a sign referring to Da Cheeseblarg

I will also accept drawings/painting for each item, but they must be done by you, and stick figures don't count!

These are a few more of my favorite things!

I received this award from Mollie at OK in UK a bit ago (check another off my list of goals, though, I am glad to accept many more... many more... who would like to be my award coordinator intern?)

And it was supposed to come with the caveat of listing 10 of your favorite things, but that was waved for me since I am clearly too famous and important to play by the rules (which is not at all true, but I am a bit of a bastard and the point is, I was planning on doing these anyway, and it was convenient, though it took me a couple weeks to motivate myself to actually do my illustrations... otherwise, I may have taken the out and looked like the jerk I really am... which you now know I am from reading this... shit.).

So, my 10 favorite things in the following categories:

Food:
Bacon

Color:

The color of your eyelids when you close you eyes and turn your face to the sun on a warm day.

Sound:

A tie between

Get sound effects & royalty free music at AudioMicro.
The sound of a ratchet

and

The call of a mourning dove

Smell:

Dank Mud *scratch and sniff*

(I kid, leave your poor monitor alone!)

Cleaning Product:

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser- still...

80's Cartoon about underwater creatures:

The Snorks

Flavor of Pudding:

Butterscotch... mmmm.

Letter to write in cursive:

That's an L.

Kind of cheese (suggested by Bonnie at the FB fanpage):

Gouda... or Butterkase, which is really plain looking and not very fun to draw.

And finally, my favorite video game:

Na na na na na na na na na na, Katamari Damacy!

And... If you wanted to answer your favorites in these categories (with illustrations) on your blog, I will happily come and look at them if you direct me to the post!

Thanks again, Mollie... and I look forward to working with you voluntary unpaid award coordinator, whoever you might be!

A Blue Whale in a Sombrero.

You would think, from pictures like this, that I actually like blue whales.

You should know that I am slightly phobic of them, in fact. When I did the drawing, the other day for my Whale Wars post, I had to look up reference because I avoid looking at blue whales enough that I don't entirely know what they look like. While looking it up, I came upon a picture of a blue whale eye and it literally made my heart palpate.

I seriously have no idea why I have a blue whale phobia. I first became aware of it while playing "Ecco the Dolphin" on the Dreamcast. Like the first damned mission was saving a baby blue whale who was stuck in a cave, while its gigantic mother hovers behind you whining at you repeatedly to save her poor baby, and I was so anxiety ridden that I never played it past that level. However, I do get panicky while playing video games sometimes, so at the time I just wrote it off as not liking the game.

Shortly after that, it was completely affirmed that the problem was the whale when I was watching Castaway with Tom Hanks.  A blue whale emerges from the sea and looks at him. Again, anxiety. Just imagining it while writing about it makes me feel kinda anxious (wait, that might have been a humpback whale in that movie, but they are close enough that my brain doesn't differentiate).

And still, no idea why I have this. I am fine with dolphins, orcas, narwhals, sperm whales (okay, maybe I'm not completely okay with Sperm Whales having just looked one up, but let's go with it), it is just something about blue whales.
I mean, they do look a bit like aliens, and they have those crazy songs, and they are FREAKING HUGE and ALIVE... but yeah. I don't like them and I don't want them, but perhaps drawing them will help.

Do you have a phobia?
How would you draw it to make it less upsetting?
